Space Race FAQ

Having Trouble Firing Your Weed Killer?

Professor Stubble offers assistance

Do not panic. That is the Captain’s job.

For difficulties involving browsers, keyboards and suspiciously quiet spacecraft, consult the questions below. For difficulties involving alien plants, consult your weed killer.

The Captain isn’t responding to the keys.

Click the game picture to give it keyboard focus. If you’ve switched tabs or opened help, press Resume when you return. Arrows move; Space jumps; F or Ctrl fires.

The ship has gone suspiciously quiet.

Press Play first, then check Sound and Music. If the browser blocks audio, toggle Sound off and on. The jukebox also needs a click on its player.

My weed killer won’t fire.

Check your ammo. Collect a refill when it’s running low. While floating with helium, firing is unavailable; press Space to deflate first.

Where did my game go?

Continue restores a deck-boundary checkpoint, not your exact position. Saves belong to this browser and can disappear if its site data is cleared or storage is unavailable. You can always choose a deck directly.

Can I play on my phone?

The information pages work on small screens, but gameplay currently requires a keyboard.

Where are the Deck Designer and online high scores?

Those were part of the original game. The current demo has recovered decks and local progress saving; editing, submissions and online leaderboards are not available.

What happened to the old demo?

It is preserved as a separate playable snapshot. Open the preserved demo → or download its complete package.

Do I need ClickToons, Netscape or ActiveX?

No. The old installation instructions belong to the historical site. Today’s demo plays directly in this browser.
